MUTUAL FUND INVESTMENTS

BASIC KNOWLEDGE ON MUTUAL FUND INVESTMENTS

professionally managed

It is very liquid

Anytime pwede mo i-withdraw anytime but some Mutual Fund companies apply charges kung hindi mo pa nalalagpasan yung holding period.

low minimum investment requirement

For as low as Php1,000.00-Php5,000.00 pwede kang mag-open ng account sa MF.

Very transparent

May matatanggap kang statement of account quarterly, nakalagay dun the total of shares you have and you profit. Sa Mutual Funds, isa kang Stockholder/shareholder of a company.

diversification

zero load/entry fee

One of the perks about being an IMG member is that you can enjoy ZERO LOAD or ENTRY FEE sa bawat paglagay mo ng pera sa mutual fund.

Gains/profits are tax-exempt

MUTUAL FUND FAQs

Q: Sinong nag-pupool at nag-i-invest nung pooled funds?

A: Yung Mutual Fund company which you have chosen to get one or several products from... yung tawag sa kanila ay FUND MANAGERS...

Q: Legit ba sila?

A: Mutual Funds are "legitimate financial institutions" and are "highly regulated" by the Securities & Exchange Commission (and indirectly by the PSE and BSP)

Mutual Funds are very legal -- they are specially designed/composed for the "average investors".

Note: Mutual Funds are not "Fixed-Income/Rate" instruments, they are subject to the volatilities of the stock market. They offer potentially higher returns with relatively higher potential risks than fixed-income structures.

Q: How do we make use of them as "financial instruments"?

A: Dahil "pooled" nga, you can now have a chance to participate (or invest) in the stock amrket and other more sophisticated investments kahit maliit lang ang pera mo (usually, ENTRY FEE can be as low as P10k to even P5k -- para ka lang bumili ng bagon cellphone)

Owning or investing-in a Mutual Fund is recommended by experts in the following scenarios:

1. Pag di ka naman well-versed sa stocks or equities and you do not have (yet) the proper "skills, attitude and time" (tulad ng mga professional investors) or kung wala ka namang interes para mag-pakadalubhasa sa area na ito, but you really feel that you need to be part of (or "ride") higher-yielding investment vehicles so that you can out-pace inflation, as you move towards you life's investments objectives.

Notes: Of course, you should atleast know the basics. Do your own research or better yet, be part of a group who has trained financial mentors.

2. Pag malit lang ang naka-allocate mong pera for "riskier" investments or di mo pa kaya "emotionally" maglagay ng malaki dahil "natatakot" kang malugi (at di mo pa na-re-realize na sa "Opportunity to Earn" ka dapat naka-focus at hindi sa "potential losses".

3. Kapag long-term (5 years and up) and investment Objectives mo -- exampale: retirement/pension, health and medical needs**, college education ng mga anak) pondo para sa mga travel goals mo..

**You should also have a LONG-TERM CARE investment na dapat ka tandem ng SHORT-TERM HEALTHCARE plan mo provided by your company.

(importante talaga na dapat alam natin yung RULE OF 72)

Q: Papano ako kikita?

A: Through "Capital Gains" or kapag nag-appreciate yung value ng shares mo. Example: Kung bumili ka ng 500 shares at P10/share last year so P5,000 na yun, tapos this year, naging P15/share na.. may P7,500 ka na pwedeng ibenta, so basically nag-gain ka ng 50% which is equivalent to P2,500. Example lang to ha, pero this is very possible my friend.

Or through "Accumulation of Shares" sa pamamagitan ng consistent buying of additional shares (money-cost averaging)

Q: Para ba silang Insurance Company?

A: No. Insurance companies offer products that serve as "Protection" while MUTUAL FUND companies offer pooled funds that serve as an "Investment"

Q: May mga pag-pipilian ba?

A: Sa Mutual Funds, you have the power to choose from amogst the products they offer. Generally, 3 main types lang siya (1) Equity/Stock Fund, (2) Fixed-income/Bond Fund and (3) Balanced Fund (mix of 1 and 2)

A: The fund manager will generally do hat for you-- hayaan mong sila ang mapuyat, trabaho nila yun. Make it Grow! and stick to your investment plans and goals. The rest is VICTORY!!!
